Saxophonist, Flutist, Composer

 

Peggy Morris is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who simply cannot contain her joy on stage and needs to dance a bit too! With forty years of professional experience, she moves effortlessly from soulful 

vocalizations to explosive saxophone and passionate flute solos with a charismatic, unmatched enthusiasm.

 

Born and raised on the west side of Cleveland OH, she started playing baritone sax in concert band and right out of high school, Peggy joined a successful touring show band called “Family Affair” out of Cleveland OH,

singing, dancing and playing baritone sax. In the mid 80’s, formed a band called “Kick” and recorded the single“You Got to Me” where they released and toured Norway. In 1994 the recording group “Morris Code” was created by Peggy on soprano, alto, tenor, baritone saxes and flute and Bob Morris on bass. They released 4 jazz CD’s still available on CD Baby and YouTube. With the music industry evolving to the internet, Peggy grasped the technology to record with musicians around the world without ever meeting them in person. She released a solo CD in 2000 called “Cyber Friends” that was written and collaborated with musicians from Germany, New York, Argentina, New Jersey and Ohio! Peggy had the honor of finally meeting, playing and touring Europe with one of her collaborators, Mathias Claus from Germany.

 

Since moving to Florida in 2005, Peggy has been busy recording numerous sessions and is quite popular in theTampa Bay FL area. She performed at the 2012 Clearwater Jazz Holiday with Pat Close and “The Groove”, played the Clearwater Jazz After Party with Brian Culbertson in 2011, Allon Sams, Mindi Abair in 2012, L.A. producer/guitarist Paul Brown in 2013 and many more. She has been writing and producing music and has released several more CD’s for digital download on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube and more. In 2017, Peggy was featured on a successful CD “Rhythms of My Soul” that also featured world renowned Grammy award winning bassists Jimmy Haslip and Brian Bromberg and also smooth jazz recording artist Allon Sams that received national and

international recognition on jazz stations in the USA and Europe. Her playing was also recognized in the 2017 March issue of DownBeat Magazine. In 2020, she released a single “Mr. Maceo - A Special Tribute” which is currently in regular rotation in London. Peggy is now in the studio recording a new CD which promises to be a big hit!
